1. PLACES / WEIR CANYON TO ROBBER'S ROOST
The trail to Robber’s Roost is windy and follows rolling hills. This trail connects to other trails in Santiago Oaks and Irvine Regional Parks, allowing you to expand your hike as you wish. Recent wildfires (November 2017) did some damage to the area, so read ahead for nearby trail closures if you’re planning to expand your hike; this trail was not damaged. This hike is great year-round; in the spring it is full of gorgeous wildflowers and is known as one of the better areas to view a Superbloom (after a high rain or El Nino year). It is somewhat exposed, so if you do hike in the summer I highly recommend hiking as early as possible in the morning. This trail leads to a rocky viewpoint called Robber’s Roost (due to a local legend that robbers in the Silver Ore days of Orange County would hide up there). Robber’s Roost can also be accessed by a more strenuous hike starting in Santiago Oaks Regional park.
