1. PLACES / WASHINGTON VALLEY PARK- RED TRAIL
The red trail at Washington Valley is a loop that is approximately 1.9 miles long.  There is a second partial red trail inside the large loop that will shorten the hike to approximately 1.6 miles. The trail surface is dirt and rock and can get very muddy and slippery after heavy rain, particularly at a creek crossing.  You will want sturdy shoes to hike this trail.   The trail is also a popular mountain biking spot, so be prepared to share the trail with bikes. The first half of the loop passes by the Washington Reservoir, with excellent views of the beautiful water.   The second half of the loop passes through the quiet forest. The trail is flat and well maintained, and it can be completed at an adult pace in about an hour.   It is also an excellent trail to hike with toddlers if they can walk the full 1.9 miles.  If not, you can hike “out and back” on just part of the loop.
