1. PLACES / TIMBER CREEK OVERLOOK
This is an incredibly scenic, fairly short hike that’s within a quiet part of Zion National Park. Located just off the I-15 in Utah, you can easily find this trail by getting off at exit 40 and following the road to the dead end. There’s a round parking lot with a beautiful photo op spot. Or you can head up Timber Creek Trail. This is an uphill out and back, but the pitch is not hard and a good steady climb that little legs can handle. There are some drop offs, so keep an eye on runners. Kids will enjoy climbing trees along the way. There are low easy to climb branches. The hike has numerous juniper and pine trees, yucca plants and lots of chipmunks running around. Expect snow in the winter, as this hike is at about 5,000 feet. There’s a bathroom in the parking lot but no water. Excellent spot to view the sunset.
