1. PLACES / SILVER LAKE TRAIL - BRIGHTON
Silver Lake is a fantastic loop trail for hikers of almost any age. 99% of the trail is flat and it offers beautiful views of the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. Silver Lake is in the city of Brighton at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It’s open to hiking, exploring, and fishing in the spring, summer, and fall, but is usually closed once the ski resorts open and exclusive to cross-country skiing. About half of the trail is boardwalk that meanders around the lake. The rest of the trail is dirt or gravel. The trail can handle most strollers and wheelchairs. Wheels may struggle on the trail sections if it’s muddy or there’s been a little snowfall. It’s an excellent all-access trail in the summer to escape the heat in the Salt Lake Valley. When the Nordic Center is open, there are a few educational items on display inside too.
