1. PLACES / RIVER TRAIL AT THE OCMULGEE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK
An approximately 1.5 mile in & out trail, shaded, which end up on the banks of the Ocmulgee River. Little ones can splash on the river banks and made mud pies on the beach. The trail itself is fairly flat, perfect for little walkers. The trail weaves all around the historic Native American temple mounds, which were built over 10,000 years ago! This trail winds through a wooded area to the Ocmulgee River. This trail is handicap accessible and bike friendly. This trail borders Walnut Creek to where it meets the river; it’s possible to see many species of wildlife on this trail. However, visitors have occasionally encountered dangerous wildlife such as alligators along this trail or the river. Be aware of your surroundings as you walk along this trail and the river.
