1. PLACES / BREAZEALE INTERPRETIVE CENTER
Take an hour to tour the indoor interpretive center and learn all about the estuary and Padilla Bay. Wander through the exhibits, spend some time watching the fish, sea stars, and anemones in the large tanks, and then finish it off with all the hands on exhibits in the sensory room. Wear a chef’s apron and make a bowl of tide soup, or place all the animals in their correct habitat on the giant feltboard. When you’re finished exploring indoors, check out the three short nature trails on the property. Head behind the building and take the tunnel under the road to an amazing beach viewpoint. If you’re feeling up to it, walk the spiral staircase all the way down to the water for some amazing beach combing during low tide. Head back to the parking area and towards the old barn and you’ll find the Upland trail loop, which is suitable for offroad strollers. Go left and wander along the edge of a dairy farm. Stop and have a picnic lunch while watching the cattle grazing in the fields.
