1. PLACES / MINIDOKA NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
Minidoka National Historic Site features a 1.6 mile loop trail with interpretive signs that tell the story of the Minidoka War Relocation Center, also known as Hunt Camp. It was a concentration camp which unconstitutionally imprisioned Japanese Americans and Alaska Native people during World War II. As of this writing in August 2019, the site is still being developed; please check their website for the most current information regarding hours and services available. The trail itself is moderately wheel friendly. The surface is covered with crushed rock the entire way. There are a couple hills. I was able to complete it with my all-terrain stroller, but it would be extremely difficult with a typical umbrella stroller. It would be challenging with a wheelchair. There is little to no shade along the trail, but there are approximately 10 benches to rest, reflect, and/or have a snack. Water and bathrooms are located at the visitor center, which is along the trail and NOT adjacent to the parking lot. There is only handicapped parking available at the visitor center.
