1. PLACES / EBEY WATERFRONT TRAIL
This lovely paved trail runs along the Snohomish River and eventually terminates at Qwuloolt Estuary. The estuary was dammed for over one hundred years, cutting it off from the natural tidal flow and the Snohomish River. Thanks to the collaborated efforts of NOAA NW Fisheries Science Center and the Tulalip Tribes, the dam was breached in August of 2015 and the area is slowly being restored. Start at Ebey Waterfront Park, which boasts a fun playground, full bathrooms, and a boat launch. Find the trailhead just past the boat launch and follow the trail under the bridge. The trail is wide, flat, and paved, making it ideal for any kind of wheels, ADA accessible, and perfect for practicing bike riding. The trail ends at the estuary breach and there is a small picnic area there where you can take a break before heading back.

Helpful Trail Information

Creek / River, Picnic Area, Playground, Viewpoint, and Wildlife Viewing It’s very common to see blue herons, osprey, eagles, hawks, and other birds of prey hunting during low tide. During high tide, keep your eyes open for river otters playing in the estuary and harbor seals swimming along the river. Summertime means lots of ripe blackberries growing along the trail. There is also a small shipwrecked boat found during the restoration of the estuary on display along the trail.
