1. PLACES / CRANBERRY BOG NATURE PRESERVE, NEW YORK
A quick keyhole loop, this trail off Rt 64 (Lake Ave) circles Sweezey Pond and features boardwalk, bridges, wide trails with mostly soft underfoot layer of pine needles. Largely part of the pine barrens, you will also pass swampy areas and the remnants of cranberry processing (and is now some fun and colorful graffiti art). Cranberry Bog was the home of what used to be Woodhull Bog, the largest cranberry bog in the area. The trail itself is probably best with an all terrain stroller or carrier as there is a short section at the north end that is narrower and bumpy with moss. Likely a haven for ticks and mosquitoes in the warmer weather- bring the bug spray! You may see wildlife and birds at this location. A pretty spot for a short, kid-friendly trail!
