3 miles out and back with three trailheads
Helpful Trail Information
The trail has sections that area dirt, woodchip, limestone, mowed grass; there are some small elevation changes. The three trailheads make for easy access. The section between the first and second trailhead requires some steps, a bridge, and a somewhat narrow section along a bluff that makes this trail unsuitable for strollers. The Corps of Engineers closes the entrance road to Sugar Bottom during the winter months, and, while the trail is still accessible then, hikers must park on Mehaffey Bridge Road and walk in. (Please note that there is another trail in the Cedar Rapids area named the Cedar Valley Nature Trail; please ensure you are routing to the right location if using a map app.)
