1. PLACES / SCOTT FARM — APPALACHIAN TRAIL
Scott Farm is a trail head and work center for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. You can follow the AT South toward Boiling Springs (roughly 2.8 miles) by crossing the bridge and following the blazes to the right into the woods along the wooden boardwalk. This section of the trail follows the Conodoguinet Creek and through a cow field (the kids love getting to see the cows). You can also take the trail North by entering the trail head across the street from the farm. It can be a bit tricky to find the opening between the trees, again look for the white AT blazes. This section of the trail is roughly 1 mile before it crosses Sherwood Drive. You can make this hike as long or as short as you like, it’s all up to you! Heading North is particularly beautiful during the fall as the trees along the trail provide some great fall foliage. *While there aren’t water fountains available, there is a water spigot located in front of the barn for thru hikers to refill their water. Don’t forget to check out the log book to read about the hikers that have passed through!
