White Rocks Trail

This trail features a 1.3 mile climb from the base of the trail at Kuhn Road to where it intersects with the Appalachian National Scenic Trail just south of Center Point Knob on South Mountain. The blue-blazed trail is well marked as it meanders from the parking area to the base of the mountain. As the trail begins to climb, hikers will encounter increasing amounts of rocks and have plenty of opportunities for rock scrambling as the trail ascends. There are several steep sections, but as long as you are wearing proper footwear, the trail shouldn’t pose a significant challenge. Once at the White Rocks, the trail levels out, but undoubtedly gets more difficult. That’s because hiking along the ridge-line requires careful stepping along this rocky outcropping. While many of the more difficult sections can be bypassed by trails along their base, other portions of the rocks must be crossed. While not overly challenging, care is certainly recommended. At the summit, hikers are treated to a sprawling view of the valley below. More information:
