This great, kid-friendly trail starts at the parking lot and follows Barclay Creek most of the way up to the lake. This trail gets a lot of rain, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes and prepare for possible trail washouts and fallen trees. Washington Trails Association does a lot of maintenance on this trail every year, but watch for muddy spots anyway. The heavy rains also expose a lot of rocks and roots, so it is advisable that children do not run this one at full speed.
The trail goes up and down enough to make you feel like you are getting in a good workout, but the net elevation gain is only 200 feet. A little over a mile in, cross Barclay Creek on this fantastic bridge carved out of a fallen log. Only half a mile further and you arrive at the lake. Make sure to look up from the rocky trail every so often, or you will miss the breathtaking views of Baring Mountain.

This trail gets a lot of water, which makes for excellent puddles! Also keep and eye out for greedy chipmunks looking for a free handout at the water. They are not above looking in your bag for snacks!
