Is your child a stairs aficionado? Then they will love the Baldwin Hills Stairs!
At the top of the hill you will find a Visitor’s Center with history of the area, restrooms, and a maze/garden.
I recommend starting at the top and and taking the stairs to the bottom, especially if you have younger/walking children. The stairs are steep, tall, and uneven, so you will likely need to help your child down them. You may want to use a hiking pole to assist with balance as well. There are five sets of stairs, so if it becomes too strenuous you will have multiple chances to bail. At the bottom of the stairs, there is a dirt trail that winds back up the hill, crossing the stairs at multiple points. About 3/4 of the way up, the trail merges with the road, leading back to the parking lot.
This area has plans for future expansion, with connecting trails and a bridge to Stoneview Nature Center and Kenneth Hahn State Park.
