1. PLACES / BADGER MOUNTAIN CANYON TRAIL
This is a beautifully upkept and groomed trail with incredible views of the Tri-Cities. While hiking, there are times that I’ve forgotten that I’m in the city at all! There is wildlife abound and beautiful wildflowers in the spring. We have spotted many birds, bugs and even a snake. It is rated “intermediate”. Carriers are needed for babies and very young children. The trail starts off by climbing a flight of stairs and continues on gravel. There are a few spots where the trail is a bit rocky. The trail follows some steep hills in which I’ve felt most comfortable keeping my kids close or on the opposite side of the slope. As many places in eastern Washington, snakes (including rattlesnakes) can be seen out in warmer weather starting in the spring. There are a couple of benches along the trail to rest. Near the parking lot, there is a restroom, water and a playground. This trail allows hikers and runners only. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
