1. PLACES / BIDWELL PARK (UPPER): ANNIE BIDWELL TRAIL
Annie Bidwell Trail (formally known as South Rim Trail) is an out and back trail perfect for little hikers. The first mile is pretty flat and follows next to a beautiful creek and then into a more wooded/shaded area next to a golf course. The trail also begins really wide (first 1/4 mile or so), and has a small rock/cement wall in most places, where there are higher drop off points. It is shaded most of the way, a creek to watch and throw rocks into (or swim in if the weather is nice), and lots of wildlife to spot. You could use a stroller on this first 1/4 mile. After the first 1/4 mile the trail narrows and gets rocky and after thr first mile, the trail begins to narrow more and takes you up on to a ridge with steep drop off points. I would recommend a carrier for young children on this part of the trail. The trail does get muddy in the rainy season and does close because of it, so while it is open in the winter, the trail is best in the spring (wildflowers) and fall (colorful leaves). Summer is okay, but not all of the trail is shaded, so it would be quite hot.
