1. PLACES / WINDOW TRAIL, BAD LANDS NATIONAL PARK
This very short, 0.25-mile round trip, flat boardwalk leads to an overlook peeking through an opening in the rock wall, the “Window,” looking out over a canyon and the craggy formations of the opposite wall. Benches are available here for resting, nursing, and snacking. It’s easy to see how this one got its name. This is a good trail for strollers since it is all board walk. One thing to keep in mind is that the entire park is hot, dry, and fully exposed. Plan ahead with lots of water, sunblock, sunglasses, and coverage for your body. The park is open year-round, but spring and fall are the best times to visit. It gets extremely hot in summer, and snow can sometimes close roads in winter. May is pretty much perfect there.
