1. PLACES / VIRGINIA LAKE
The Virginia Lake is a 1 mile loop trail, paved and flat, around in an urban area of Reno. There is ample parking street side and a parking lo son the North side as well, a playground with bathrooms (seasonal) lots of birds, an exercise station, and benches to stop and look out across the water. The West side of the lake is an older maybe even historic neighborhood, the Northeast side is cute newer townhome styles in bright colors. This is beautiful in the winter covered in snow, in the hot summer months try to make it out in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and sun exposure (though there is some shade).

Helpful Trail Information

Lake, Natural Play Area, Picnic Area, Playground, and Wildlife Viewing The wildlife viewing is the many birds that inhabit this lake and lakeshore. The playground and bathroom is on the West side, picnic areas interspersed around the lake, with natural play around the trees/benches just watch out don’t fall in the lake. It is pet friendly (we met a woman on the bench feeding the birds with a pet hedgehog once!) but I prefer to leave my dog at home for this hike due to the birds and other dogs and people its a lot of stimulation.
