1. PLACES / TRAIL OF TWO FORESTS
This mild trail mostly boardwalk and accessible for all ages. It’s great for hiking and birding.  The loop takes you past two forests (hence the name). The first is an old-growth covering of Douglas fir and western red-cedar. The second, newer  forest has regrown from what was once covered with lava. This forest includes lava casts of old trees.  You’ll encounter one of these tree casts that is large enough to descend a ladder and explore. Please dress accordingly and bring a flashlight if you plan to check it out- it gets cold down there!
