1. PLACES / THREE SISTERS FALLS TRAIL
Three Sisters Falls is a gorgeous but seasonal three tiered waterfall. The trail to get there is 4.1 miles round trip, going downhill until you get to the waterfall and then uphill on the way back. The trail has steep and rocky parts, so make sure you bring good shoes and lots of water. The trail used to include an extremely challenging and steep part of the trail, but recently they updated the trial to make it easier to get to the falls. You can see the update in the picture included, the yellow circle is the old trail and the red line is the new trail. This trail can be accomplished while wearing a child or by advanced elementary aged hikers, but both should proceed with caution. The rocks near the falls are slippery and people get hurt here every year, so please be careful and keep a very close eye on kids! Since the waterfall is seasonal, it is best to visit in the spring or after a big rainfall. One important note, the road to get there is many miles of dirt and very bumpy and rutted. Though I have seen small cars make it to the trailhead, many cars have also gotten stuck. If you have the option to take a larger or off road friendly vehicle, please bring that one. There is a dirt parking lot off of Boulder Creek Road. This parking lot can fill up and street parking is very challenging, so try to get there early to beat the heat and crowds. The trailhead starts at the end of the parking lot. The trail is pretty straight forward, and you will follow the trail until you reach the falls. Once you are ready to head home, go back on the trail you came on.
