Terranea in Rancho Palos Verdes

There are multiple trails that overlap and connect in the Palos Verdes Peninsula. One of our favorites for small children/toddlers is the Bluff Top trail. It starts from the parking lot at Pelican Cove Park and follows the bluffs to the Terranea Resort. The trail leads to a sea cave, with several opportunities to explore tide pools along the way. The trail has ropes to help prevent people from getting off trail. On clear days, it also has spectacular views of Catalina Island. Some of the variety of wildlife you can expect to see include crabs, seals, birds, and rabbits. You can use this same parking lot to descent the Toveemor trail down to the rocky beach below the bluffs. There are still metal remnants from shipwrecks along the beach. The Toveemor trail is about 1/2 mile round trip but is a steep downhill to the beach (which leaves a strenuous climb to get back to the parking lot).
