1. PLACES / STONEWALL PEAK
Stonewall Peak is a 3.4 mile moderate hike in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. This hike is best for baby/kid carrying but strong older hikes can make the hike too. The trail starts right across Highway 79 from Paso Picacho Campground. Once you go straight through an immediate three way fork, the trail is pretty straight forward. It starts as a fire road and then eventually turns into single track. The elevation gain is continuous until you reach the top. There are stairs at the very top of the Peak (pictures included) which some people don’t feel comfortable climbing with kids. If you choose not to climb them, that’s okay! There are still spectacular views and great rocks to sit on and rest right before the stairs. Once you are ready to head home, go back the way you came up.
