1. PLACES / SHIPLEY NATURE CENTER
Part of Huntington Beach Central Park, Shipley Nature Center is a great place to take smaller children for a stroll through the woods. There are frequently field trips hosted here (small groups), so there are usually objects to look at such as Native American artifacts, science displays, and animal displays in addition to their regular informational displays near their gift shop building. The main trail circles the lake, but in recent years heavy rain tends to flood out part of the trail. Just across a small grass field is a park in case the kids still have energy after their exploration hike. Hours: Monday-Saturday 9 am to 1 pm http://shipleynature.org/
