1. PLACES / RATTLESNAKE TRAIL
Rattlesnake Trail is a 0.92 mi trail in the Homestead Ranch Open Space. The trail is a wide, flat gravel path that is accessible for all terrain strollers or bikes. It is a very safe trail for little ones who can walk! The trail has two overlook spots with picnic benches to enjoy views of the high prairie desert of Peyton, CO. One side of the trail is grassy while the other has ample trees that can provide shade depending on the day/season. In addition to hikers, walkers, runners and bikers you will often see horses on the trail. There is ample paved parking available. At the parking lot there are bathrooms, trashcans, a playground, a playing field and picnic pavilions. Near the parking lot is a natural spring-fed pond and creek in the central valley of the park attracts deer, coyotes, foxes, fishing and over 35 types of waterfowl and birds. Fishing is allowed at the pond. There is also a small dock for wildlife viewing on the pond. Trail submitted by Victoria Castro Roybal
