Ramapo Mountain State Park - Castle Loop

This loop is such a FUN hike!! It has a CASTLE. What more do you need?? From the gravel parking lot at the top of Skyline Drive (Across from the Smokey the Bear sign) follow the red/White trail. When you get to the red trail (Cannonball), make a right and follow it for a short period of time (If you get to Skyline Drive, you’ve gone too far). Make a left onto the white trail and follow it past the tower to the castle ruins.  Just after you start on the white trail, there is your first viewpoint. In the Winter/Spring, you can see the top of the castle from the first view. Once you pass the castle, continue on the white trail (you have to hop over a wall when you’re leaving the castle to continue on the trail) until it ends. Follow the red trail South until it meets the Blue trail. Make a left to follow the blue trail East along the edge of Ramapo Lake. The yellow trail will join the blue when you pass the lake.  When the 2 trails split, stay on the Yellow trail and follow it North to return to the parking lot.
