1. PLACES / PISGAH CENTER FOR WILDLIFE EDUCATION
The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education is a very cute little nature center that is very kid friendly. There is a small indoor area, a short walking path, and a fish hatchery. The indoor area has a small room filled with caged local fish, reptiles, amphibians, and other small animals. There are also a few walls with interactive flaps and there is a small theater room that has a stuffed black bear. Outside there is a short, paved/boardwalk shaded path that has educational signs along the way. There is also a fish hatchery where kids can feed the trout. An hour is plenty time to explore the entire center. It is free to park and enter the center, but make sure to bring quarters to pay for fish food. There are bathrooms outside. There is no cell service in the area, so make sure you know where you’re going beforehand.
