The Petrified Forest Loop trail is found in the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument Park. This 1 mile loop trail is all-terrain stroller friendly, and great for a toddler led hike. This trail leads through the bed of ancient Lake Florissant. It passes numerous giant petrified redwood tree stumps, including the colorful “Big Stump.” The visitor center is great to explore, and there is also a hands on fossil beds area.
