1. PLACES / PENNEKAMP BUTTERFLY GARDEN
A very short gravel pathway through the butterfly garden which is entirely planted with native species. The walk is very kid friendly, and is good place to see butterflies, dragonflies, lizards, birds, and of course, native plants.  Many of these plants flower throughout the year, and monarch butterflies visit during their fall migration.  Though small, it is worth a stop if you’re in the area, or if you are visiting other parts of the park.  The butterfly garden is located next to the visitor center, which houses the park’s aquarium, several educational displays, and nature videos.  The visitor center is open from 9-5.   Submitted by Liz Trueblood
