1. PLACES / PEÑASQUITOS CANYON: CANYONSIDE PARK TO CREEK STOMP
This entrance to Peñasquitos Canyon is my favorite for toddlers! The trail to the creek is very short and flat, great for little walkers. The creek runs year round and is the perfect size for kids to play in. About halfway to the creek there is a hidden tree cave on the right side of the trail. There are some small rocks and tree roots in the trail, but it is possible to use an off road stroller on this trail. If you want to walk further, you can cross the bridge over the creek and walk as many miles as you desire through Peñasquitos Canyon. After you hike, you can head over to the Los Peñasquitos Ranch House and see their farm animals. If you are in the parking lot facing the Ranch House with the sports fields behind you, the trailhead is to your left. You will see a big sign/map to the right and a gate on the left. Keep straight on this trail until you reach the creek. Restrooms: There is a bathroom in the park, in the middle of the sports fields.
