Palmer Park offers more than 300 acres of greenspace, including a wooded main recreation area with pavilions and picnic areas, restroom(currently the southern most restroom near the playground is open), two playgrounds, and ample parking. There’s a system of paved and natural-surfaced trails that allow visitors to explore the park’s expansive forest and wetlands. The paved Buck Creek Trail is multi-use and runs along the park’s west edge, connecting 44th St to 52nd St. A narrower paved loop trail is available from the parking lot on the park’s main drive. Interconnected pathways and loops also explore wetlands east of the drive and a creek tributary south of the ball diamond. The paved trails are stroller-friendly and the unpaved are all terrain stroller-friendly. Park map https://cms4.revize.com/revize/kentparks/document_center/park_maps/Palmer_Park_2sided.pdf
The park gate is open May-October, but in the off-season you can still access the park by parking at Kaufman Golf Course or Palmer Park Ball Fields. In the winter, the park and golf course is a popular spot for cross country skiing. Skiers will find three groomed loops of roughly two miles each, winding through wooded areas of the park and more open stretches through the golf course. Here’s a link to our ski trail map. Here’s a brochure with details on skiing at Palmer Park.

Parking Details
There are several parking lots. Check out the map https://cms4.revize.com/revize/kentparks/document_center/park_maps/Palmer_Park_2sided.pdf for the best area to park at depending on what trail you would like to access. When we visit, we like to park in the lot by the second playground near shelter c. The unpaved trail is a short walk back to the main drive that you entered on. You will see the trailhead on the east side of the drive.
