1. PLACES / BELMONT LAKE STATE PARK
This park is a local favorite and an easy loop. It is pet friendly and features two great playgrounds. We usually start the loop at the starting  point near the bathrooms (open year round) and head south toward the parkway along the lake. The trail is paved or packed dirt and is generally accessible to all. You will cross three bridges, pass two cannons from the early 19th century and lots of neat trees, especially on the west side of the lake. The kids especially like the “waterfall” at the south side of the lake and a little detour under the bridge (of the parkway) is a fun place to see the stream and try our voices for echoes. Paddle boats for rent in summer.
