1. PLACES / MT. RUBIDOUX
In the heart of Riverside, this popular “mountain” trail is a great workout for all ages. There are multiple ways to park and access Mt. Rubidoux Park, but the easiest way is to park at nearby Ryan Bonomino Park. Your trail starts by heading up San Andreas Ave/ Glenwood Dr to the trail head at the foot of Mt. Rubidoux (all paved, along the street on a sidewalk, somewhat uphill). The trail is all uphill to Mt. Rubidoux Peak and the Peace Tower, but there are several spots along the way for the kids to play with dirt and climb rocks. What is great about this hike is that most of the trail is paved, so kids can ride in a stroller on the way uphill. At the top is a great view of Riverside, plus giant steps leading to a flag and the Peace Tower on the north side or the Mt. Rubidoux summit, Cross, and elevation marker on the south side. Kids will have  a great time scrambling up to either or both landmarks. To finish the hike you can return the way you came, or loop around the mountain to see the views you haven’t seen yet.
