1. PLACES / TREES AND TRAILS ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER
Trails & Trees Environmental Center sits on 26 acres of land owned by the Mechanicsburg Area School District. It is a unique park to explore the beauty of Pennsylvania’s forests and escape into nature. Five trails enter the woods from along the tree line, all of which lead to the stream at the bottom of the ravine.  If you walk east on any one of the trails from the ravine, you end up at the Middle School. If you walk west, you will come out at the pavilion/farmhouse. Several miles of trails and four teaching stations were constructed by 25 different Boy Scouts as their projects to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Distance varies, based on which trails you take. Your family could choose the path that fits your family, whether it be .5 miles or 2 miles. This is not a stroller friendly hike due to incline. At the bottom of the ravine, this trail tends to be quite mucky after any rain or snow melt. More information:
