1. PLACES / MAGNOLIA BLUFF COUNTY PARK
This 120 acre park features beautiful rock outcroppings and vistas. Because this park has steep areas and rock outcroppings, caution must be used by all park visitors. Picnic tables, grills, drinking water, and restroom facilities are provided. In an effort to keep the areas as pleasing as possible, dumpsters are provided. Two trails are featured: one a bridle and nature trail; the other a cross-country ski and hiking trail. The trails of Magnolia Bluff Park are open every day from dawn to dusk. Start at the upper parking lot, and head on paved trail to see the bluff. There are beautiful views from the overlook of the surrounding area. You may hike down to part of the bluff. Please use extreme caution if you are hiking with children. If you chose to get a closer look at bluff you are doing so at your own risk. From the bluff take the paved portion of the trail around the picnic area to the dirt trail into the woods. There is also a spot to take the trail down the bluff and pick up trails back around the park (the red loop on the map). From the start of the dirt trail take it until it splits and stick to trail to the right. You’ll come past the equine parking area and more restrooms, and around this point you’ll have to cross the road, please be cautious crossing the road. Once across the road the trail splits again. If you go right you’ll take a shorter leg back up to the parking lot. If you go left you’ll have a longer leg that will bring down to the lower parking lot and you’ll have to take the trail back up to the top of the bluff. If you chose this way it is a bit steeper and rockier. Some spots of the trail may be more sandy. Strollers are not recommend for this hike. Highly recommend a carrier for little walkers and babies.
