1. PLACES / LIBERTY RESERVOIR : (HALF) COOT PENINSULA
In under 1.5 miles round trip, this hike is perfect for young children. There is nominal elevation change, and it ends at the waters of Liberty Reservoir. Park along Deer Park Rd along the shoulder/lot. Heed all signs! Enter into the woods on the south side of the road. Follow down hill, you’ll go straight at the first intersection (0.2 miles). It levels off a bit here and there can be some muddy spots. At the next intersection (more of a fork at 0.4 miles), take the trail to the left. Follow this downhill and when you reach a cluster of pines and the path flattens out you’re at Liberty Reservoir (0.7 miles). Retrace your steps to return.
