1. PLACES / LANDEN DEERFIELD PARK
This park has ball fields, 3 playgrounds, some paved paths, and at the very back of the park there is a system of dirt trails. These trails are open to both hikers and mountain bikers, and total about 3 miles. There are two river crossings in the dirt path area that you must use stones to cross, which can be a little difficult when water levels are high. To get to the dirt paths, drive to the very back parking lot. If you look behind the first picnic shelter you see, you will find the trailhead behind it. There is not a marking for it. There is also a short, paved loop that starts here that you can read a story along. The park may get crowded on days when there are sports games going on, but the hiking trails usually aren’t too bad.
