1. PLACES / JEWEL OF THE CREEK (DRAGONFLY) TRAIL
Partially shaded loop trail with two wooden plank bridge crossings which are a favorite for kids of all ages. Dragonflies and butterflies are plentiful in the air and minnows can be found in the Creek. A beautiful Oasis in the desert with lots of greenery. Well defined dirt trail that is easy for good walkers to navigate. A small kid sized cave is a fun little surprise waiting to be discovered. Wonderful hike with spectacular views. When you go through Cave Creek and turn down N. Spur Cross Rd, there are little brown signs with an arrow pointing straight ahead, leading you to the trail. However when you arrive at the little parking lot for the trail access, it is a bit confusing at first, because there is no sign there announcing that it is the Dragonfly (or Jewel of the Creek) trailhead. But you will see a brown metal gate (rather not noticeable). That will be the entrance to the trailhead. The trail is very easy to follow, only gets a little rocky in a few short spots. Bring lots of water. Submitted by Melissa Jamshidi
