1. PLACES / GUNPOWDER SP: HEMLOCK NORTH PRETTYBOY RESERVOIR
This short hike is bliss all year round. Park along shoulder lot of Gunpowder Road and make your way to the bridge crossing over the Gunpowder. You’ll want to enter the trail right at the north side of th bridge….not the trail head. It can be difficult to follow the trail head and route little ones if it’s been wet or cold so we tend to take the easy way for most fun. At the bridge, head south and follow the single track path. Roughly 0.35 miles and you’ll reach your destination. The confluence of Walker Run and the Gunpowder. Highly discourage trying to find the trail on the other side of Walker Run as it virtually diapers and becomes steep. In the hot summer months this is a hidden gem as it is shaded, and it’s north of the Reservoir so no 55 degree bottom water temps! This Hemlock area is breath taking with or without snow so enjoy!
