1. PLACES / FLINTROCK TRAIL
This self-guided wooded 1.3-mile trail offers interesting interpretive signs explaining the geology of the Blue Mound area. Watch for flintrock boulders scattered along this trail as the trail takes you along the north side of the mound. You’ll pick the trailhead up by the shelter near the playground. You’ll head down along the trail to start into Oak forest. Trail will circle along the forest and will climb back up to the western portion of the trail. There are some stairs to climb back up to the top of the mound, but are manageable for established walkers, younger children may do better in a carrier. The terrain of the trail is mild, with the initial descent and final ascent back up. There aren’t really any views within the trial, but be sure to check out both of the lookout towers on each end of the park for spectacular views of the surrounding area. The trail also features informative signs along the way. The lookout towers do have a lot of stairs, and are fairly high up. Please use caution heading up and down the tower stairs.   Here is the link to the Blue Mound State Park Map: https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/name/bluemound/pdfs/bluemoundparkmap.pdf
