1. PLACES / FERNHILL WETLANDS
This is a great trail area for all ages and also serves as a great education opportunity on natural treatment systems or wetlands to improve water quality. It is stroller friendly as it is mostly a mix of pavement and gravel with a few dirt trail stretches.  Within the wetlands you can take various routes to explore Fernhill Lake, an assortment of marshes and a Water Garden. The main loop around Fernhill Lake is 1.1 mile and you can also explore various side trails to see other areas of interest. This is a great wildlife lookout area, so be sure to stop, look, and listen for different species of birds, frogs, fuzzy caterpillars, and various insects that you can enjoy watching along the trail.  There are big rocks for climbing, logs for sitting and standing on and many benches around the trails to stop and rest or observe. There are a few covered shelters along the walk, but otherwise the trail is open with no substantial tree cover. To extend your exploration time, pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on one of the many sitting areas around the trail or under the covered picnic shelter near the parking lot.
