1. PLACES / ELINOR KLAPPS-PHIPPS PARK
Elinor Klapps-Phipps Park is a beautiful wooded trail system on the north side of Tallahassee that can be accessed from Miller Landing Road off of Meridian Road.  It is a beautiful 670 acre tract of land on the eastern shore of Lake Jackson that consists of several well-known trails like Swamp Forest, Coon Bottom, Red Bug and Old Hammock. This land surrounds the Forest Meadows Recreation Complex and the Meridian Sports Complex as well as the Miller Landing soccer fields, so while the look and feel is definitely north Florida woods, it is close enough to amenities for novice hikers.

Helpful Trail Information

Creek / River, Lake, Mud Puddles, Natural Play Area, Shaded Hike, and Viewpoint Most of the trails in Phipps Park are not stroller friendly, but there is a multi use, shared trail that can be accessed with an all-terrain stroller. The multi use trail, accessed from Gate B off of Miller’s Landing Road, will take you to a neat overlook station with a view of Lake Jackson. This area is lush with huge oaks, pine trees and palmettos. There are also creeks and elevations which make it very popular for outdoor enthusiasts. It is, by far, one of my favorites in Tallahassee. With the many trails, there are multiple access points and trail heads.
