Dirksen Nature Trail

Dirksen Nature Trail is within the Dirksen Nature Park in Tigard, OR. This is a relatively short, easy trail through meadows and and a bit of forest. If you park at the Nature Center, it’s about 10 minutes of walking on a well maintained chip trail with some dirt areas. It can be very muddy and will have large puddles in wet months. Wear clothing and footwear that can get dirty! The trail to the nature play area is less than 1/2 mile long. Due to some uneven areas, it is not recommended to take a stroller along this path unless it has rugged tires and you don’t mind getting it muddy. You may also need help lifting it over roots and small steep areas through the trees. If you want a stroller or wheelchair friendly approach, use the Fanno Creek Trail which is paved and can be accessed from Tigard St or Tiedeman Ave. You might be able to park at Fowler Middle School for off street parking, but would need to walk down the sidewalk to the Fanno Creek Trail to get to the nature park area using paved surfaces. The true gem is the nature play area. There is a nice covered picnic area and bathrooms available. They have a large play structure and a variety of sculptures from tree stumps and logs that are whimsical and fun for kids to explore. There are also some nature features like rocks, large stumps, and logs for kids to climb on.
