1. PLACES / DECEPTION PASS SAND DUNES INTERPRETIVE TRAIL
This trail is great for little legs, it is a short, level loop through varying habitats from sand dunes to lichen covered trees. With views of the Olympic Mountains and the San Juan Islands, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on this trail! You are likely to see an eagle, and if you’re really lucky, a whale! This path loops around along the beach and through the trees. When you’re finished plenty of sand and rocks to build sandcastles, so don’t forget shovels and buckets. Much of this trail is not protected by trees, so on a windy day it could be quite cold. Interpretive signs provide information about the seaside vegetation unique to this area.
