1. PLACES / LOWER COLUMBINE TRAIL
The Lower Columbine Trail is near the Starsmore Discovery Center, and it is located at the beginning of the North Cheyenne Canyon Park.  The nature center is not open during the winter, and the trail can snow packed or icy.  This trail is best during the summer or fall. You will find a paved parking lot and then you will walk past the nature center to the trailhead.  From the trailhead there is a gradual incline, and eventually the path widens.  It is partially shaded along the trail. There are a variety of stopping spots near the creek to play nearby and to cool off during hot summer months.   In general, this trail has a gradual incline and follows along a creek and leads to a dam overflow that creates a waterfall. This trail is not stroller or wheelchair friendly.  The nature center does have a water fountain and indoor restrooms when it is open.  Dogs are allowed, but must be leashed.
