1. PLACES / BUNCHED ARROWHEAD PRESERVE
This easy loop trail located near Travelers Rest is a great choice for younger hikes. The preserve is named after bunched arrowhead, which is an endangered plant. The dirt trail is flat and is a nice place for bird watching. There are a few short boardwalks. You can reach the trail from either ends of the parking lot and it will loop you around to the other end. There are a few places along the trail where you can turn, but usually they will dead end to a bird watching spot or rejoin the main trail. There is just one tricky turn. If you do the trail counterclockwise, there will be a short trail sign to point you left after the trail gets away from the road. If you go clockwise, it is very easy to miss this sign since it is only posted in one direction.

There is not an easy to see sign from the McCauley road, but look for the green fence and the opening into the parking lot.
