1. PLACES / BUCK GULLY
There are multiple trail heads for this trail, with several branches off of the main trail. The total length is 3.6 miles from end to end, however you can make your hike as short or long as you prefer. This trail is mostly dirt, so navigable with an off-road stroller. The western end of Buck Gully starts at a trail head in a neighborhood. There is street parking available, but watch for no parking signs in the senior neighborhood adjacent to the trail head. Descend down the first hill (paved), and after crossing the bridge you will enter a natural area nearly untouched by mankind. You will see houses along the ridgelines, but for the most part Buck Gully includes a sampling of the best of Orange County outdoors: wetlands, a stream, forested areas, and grasslands. The trail itself gradually rolls up and down through a canyon area. It is somewhat exposed in places, so I recommend going early or late in the day (especially in the summer).
