1. PLACES / FRENCH CREEK STATE PARK-LENAPE TRAIL
We always start from the Hopewell Boat Launch as the parking lot has a bathroom and it is near the playground. Starting from the Hopewell Boat Launch, this trail will take you around the scenic Hopewell Lake. If there has been recent rainfall or snowmelt, the first 2 miles will be extremely muddy. In the first mile or so, there will be plenty of opportunities to look for frogs, turtles and salamanders near the water’s edge. About halfway through the hike you will also get a glimpse of the historic Hopewell Furness area (which borders French Creek State Park). This area is also a little rocky, but manageable for toddlers. The terrain for the most part is either dirt or grass and easily navigated. This hike is very scenic and enjoyable.
