1. PLACES / BANNER FOREST HERITAGE PARK
Banner Forest Heritage Park is a labyrinth of multi-purpose trails that covers 636 acres of wooded land in Olalla.  This trail system is popular with hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders.  There are two parking areas – the one off Banner forest being the main lot.  While there are many trails, our group has mostly stuck to the main path that can be made into a 4mi out and back jogging stroller friendly walk.  There is a rock pile about 1/2mi in that the kids enjoy climbing, many mushrooms in the fall, and other plants to keep the kids interested.  There is no bathroom, water fountain, or playground.  Pets are allowed, but be aware that many dog owners don’t use leashes on this trail system.  Bears have been known to frequent this area, so going with a group or being noisy is recommended. A map of the trail system can be found here: https://www.kitsapgov.com/parks/Documents/BannerForest_TrailMap.pdf.
