1. PLACES / GREEN RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE
This system of trails navigates through the lush forest behind the college.  This is my go-to for an easy 1 mile toddler hike with a view of Mt. Rainier. The Foundation Trail is a 1 mile loop, side trails can shorten or lengthen the loop. The trail is dirt, has a few easy hills, a pond, a set of pull-up bars, and a bench at the viewpoint.  There are a few map signs along the way. Additional trails, while usually muddy in all but summertime, can add mileage and a view of the Green River. This trail is all-terrain stroller-friendly. Note: When school is in session there will be no parking available until after noon. Bus accessible.

Helpful Trail Information

Shaded Hike and Viewpoint At the southeast corner of the Foundation Trail Loop is the viewpoint that on a clear day has a lovely view of Mt. Rainier.

Parking Details

My favorite access to the trail system is in the P6 parking lot. It’s easiest to find it by entering the campus at the West Entrance off SE 320th St near 120th Pl SE. Take the first right just after the information booth, stay straight to head downhill to the P6 parking lot. Trailhead is at the bottom of the small hill.
