1. PLACES / ANHINGA TRAIL AT EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK
Airboats are fun, but if you really wanted to see an alligator at Everglades National Park you need to visit Anhinga Trail. Anhinga Trail can be found off of the Royal Palm Visitor Center in Everglades National Park. The Rangers offer many guided tours and talks at this location. The trail is paved and flat with an ADA accessible boardwalk. Fall, Winter, and Spring are the best times to visit weather wise, but you can catch a glimpse of the gators and other wild life anytime of year. Be sure to pack sunscreen and bug spray. Check in with the Royal Palm Visitor Center to ask any questions about the wildlife you may have. Reminder, the gators are in their natural habitat and have the right of way to the trail. Be aware of your surroundings. Be ready to pick little ones up in case you cross paths with the wildlife. If you wanted to extend your hike, be sure to check out the Gumbo Limbo Trail while you are there.
